new NTP server

old NTP server has failed due to failed HDD.

A Raspberry Pi 4B was set up as dedicated time server for the 192 un-routed domain and the 10.160 routed domain.

LEO Center 14_-3_0 Load cells 3130 channel swap II

LEO Center 14_-3_0 load cells measurement channel was previously switched on 7/3/2019.

LEO Center Load cells 3130 channel swap

We experienced an error on 3/30/2020 around 2pm where the load cell was reading an extremely high mass than usual.

This was tracked down to water ingressing onto the load cell and causing it to read incorrectly.

We switched the channel again on 6/9/2020.

Currently (August 2020), we are applying a bead of caulking around the LEO hillslope frame above the load cells to prevent water reaching it.

Missing data due to switch upgrade

DSC server was affected by switch SW upgrade.

5/13/2020 4 - 6 am is missing data.

Corrected center bay PE102 leak data

PE102 Center bay for the leak was wired incorrectly, hence, it was never recording properly since 2018 till Jan 2020.

Since this PE102 only measured the leak from the seepage, it only exhibited low flow rate and was never above the minimum flowrate of the PE102.

However, due to a recent accidental discovery of the seepage leak in the center bay with the -2 and -1 seepage locations clogged, it had increased the flowrate of the leak to a point that was greater than the Novalynx tipping bucket measurable flowrate and within the measurable flowrate of the PE102.

The Database has been updated with the corrected PE102 center bay leak flowrate.

3130 Load cell temperature

We have started logging the 3130 load cell temperature in order to potentially perform temperature compensation for the thermal drifts.

LEO Center seepage leak test

Due to a higher than normal seepage flowrate to the LEO center seepage leak position flowmeters (Novalynx and PE102), we investigated the cause of this increase.

From inspection, we had found that seepage drain positions -2 and -1 were clogged due to the coarse soil material. Flowrates returned to normal once they were unclogged.

*The seepage -2 and -1 were previously unclogged.see Center Seepage clog

With this new knowledge, we performed the following tests on 2/6/2020 to see how the clogging the different seepage sections would affect the center seepage leak.

  1. with -2 plugged from 9:50am to 10:33am
  2. with -1 plugged from 1:35pm to 2:20pm

We can clearly see that if either seepage divider sections are the flowrate of the seepage leak flowmeter increases. This seems to indicate that there is a larger or additional leak at a higher point of the polypropylene divider plates.

Center Seepage Clog

Unclogged the following locations on LEO Center

1/28/2019 ->  -2

1/31/2019 -> -1

*Data shows -1 seepage flowrate was not affected by the clog whereas -2 seepage flowrate was affected.

PE102 and Novalynx maintenance.

West slope.

PE102:

  • -4 - funnel was not directly under the drain. Repositioned.
  • -2, 2 & 4 may need to be flushed/cleaned
  • Reseated the questionable PE102 connectors

Novalynx:

  • -2 - tipping bucket was stuck. Adjusted the screws holding the shaft so it moves freely.

Center slope:
Novalynx:

  • -1 and leak - replaced bad proxy switches
  • 2 - tipping bucket was caught on a screw that was along the side of the body.

.

Tipping bucket calibration

Tipping bucket calibration testing on Sept 25th,  between 12:46 pm to 2:47 pm.
